Kyotita is a winged serpent-like creature with no limbs other than his two great wings. His body is covered in black sharpened scales, which can tear flesh and soft materials apart. Kyotita's spine holds a number of large blue crystal fragments, which focus and store his energy. Kyotita has a short-range breath weapon which encases opponents in hard mineral fragments - slowing their movement and eventually locking them into place completely.

Origin[]

Kyotita's black scales were once white - long ago when Kyotita served as Northern Africa's spirit guardian. He protected a balance between the humans, the sea, the fauna, and the mineral wealth of the land. The land was rich & fertile, and Kyotita was a good shepard of his domain.

But the humans began to increase in number - and require more food & resources. Those living in Kyotita's domain prospered, and so humans from neighboring regions began to immigrate - further increasing the number of humans. Kyotita was unprepared for this shift in his balance - and so he acted too late to stop it. Forests were cleared and huge numbers of fish were swept up in the expansion. Kyotita decided that his only option was to cull the human population.

And so began Kyotita's first great attack on the human cities. But even with his great power, he was unable to put a significant dent into the human numbers - and so the imbalance grew. Kyotita increased his attacks… and then something began to change. As he fought, he began to enjoy the terror he inspired, and thrive off of the misery and fear. His scales darkened, and the land he protected began to whither into desert as its guardian abandoned its protection in favor of promoting suffering. Kyotita's attacks became more frequent and more vicious, as he lost any semblence of his former sense of self.

It was then that a human priestess named Atsuka received a vision about how to defeat Kyotita. Luring the great beast into a mystic trap, Atsuka and her followers destroyed Kyotita's body.

But Kyotita's bond to the Earth is powerful, and even in his corrupted state he cannot be fully destoryed while his land persists. And so Kyotita is reborn every few hundred years - continually raging against the loss of balance, and the loss of his ancient purpose. Each generation Atsuka's spirit is reborn - teaching a new generation how to prepare themselves for Kyotita's inevitable return.

Q&A w/creator[]

Q: How is Kyotita from Egypt If Atsuka is the priestess (clearly a Japanese one as well)?

A: Kyotita may have spawned in Egypt due to his job as a planet defender, to save the Earth that was being too drained of resources by the large advanced civilization that was based there. However after wiping the ancient Egyptian like civilization Kyo decided it was a waste to stop since other civilizations existed and it would just happen again. Kyo also decided he liked the feeling of wiping these virus's and ignored the earth's pleas when they asked him to return to the earth (essentially dissolve back to the Earth).  He decided he liked the feeling too much and he turned his back on the Earth's pleas (The Earth was a living entity in Kyo's original story) and thus his White Scales were turned black and red to represent his darkness and the blood of those he killed. After wiping that civilization he began to travel all over the world to wipe out ALL civilization to prevent any potential future threats to the planet. Inevitably the spirit of the Earth began to commune with a priestess in Ancient Japan and made a pact to kill Kyotita. It would do this by the Earth Spirit sacrificing it's sentience to provide the power needed to beat Kyotita if he could be draw to a temple it had Atsuka and her people build. The Earth would use Atsuka as the lure. The Earth did this by blessing Atsuka with abilities beyond human (such as extended life and always producing a female heir to take over and the powers were passed) and secretly attached an aura to her as well that would physically PAIN Kyo, causing old wounds to open, while she was near.

Q: Why did kaiju combat call it Kaiotaita and not Kyotita like originally named?

A: I still prefer Kyotita as the spelling, but was told during my collaboration with Simon Strange that it had to be spelt as it is pronounced to make it easier for those who want to say its name, so he asked for me to change the name.

Q: Why did Kyotita end up as spawning in Egypt?

A: Simon wanted to connect Kyo to desolation and ancientness that had some basis in reality. Due to this he suggested that I set Kyo's origin in Egypt since it could explain the now desert terrain and was home to many advanced civilizations.

Q: Why does Kyotita have multiple eyes in his official Kaiju Combat design?

A: Kyo was given multiple eyes because Matt and Simon believed that Kyo's design had too many generic similarities to a Wyvern, They also hinted at possibly connecting him to another multi eyed kaiju in the future.

Q: Why does Kyo sometimes show up with different appearances, including gender, in the creators art?

A:  Kyo was original made to be gender fluid since it would leave crystals behind after being defeated, if its land still existed, which would work like a homing beacon for reptiles and reptile like kaiju to tempt them to eat it. Kyo would then slowly take over the creatures mind and body slowly inserting its DNA and memories from its prior lives (Since each crystal served as a memory bank by storing information) and mutating the creature to something similar to Kyotita's original form, although some traits would transfer with it such as gender and some body designs.

Kyo's Future[]

Creator is currently trying to work on a book series where Kyotita will appear.
